Nestled In

I’ve spent this morning listening to good music and doing some crafts. Made these little giraffe friends for a birthday present for my cousin who turns two in March.

We watched Juno last night and as much as I loved the movie (and I loved it a lot!) I loved the opening credits even more! The animation (illustration?) was so fresh and beautiful and it (along with the great music) really set the tone for the movie. I’d really enjoy finding similar style of art prints to hang on the wall.

I’ve spent a good portion of this week in bed, sleeping, reading and trying to recover from this nasty cold. Now that I’m feeling a little better I thought I’d put together a little guide to some of my favorite duvet covers that are out there now. I didn’t notice when I was first making the list that with the designs and strong colors all these duvet covers and pillow cases have a pretty nostalgic style that feels familiar and makes me feel comfortable and right at home, exactly something one needs from their surroundings when they’re sick at home. I’ve had to stay at home for two days now because of an awful cold. So between all the sneezing, coughing and generally feeling sorry for myself I decided to cheer myself up a bit by looking at some of my favorite art on Etsy. I really want to see all of these beautiful prints on our walls someday. I’ve never been into handicrafts that much - I don’t really know how to sew or knit or anything. I’ve always appreciated handmade goods and admired anyone who is good at making them but I’ve never really had an interest to learn for myself. That is until recently. All of the sudden all I want to do is to learn how to make patchwork quilts and learn to do embroidery. But as usual for me I have a hard time being patient enough to practise and learn. I easily feel like if I’m not good at something right away it’s not the right thing for me and I should try doing something else. But this time I am determined to give myself time and learn and not to expect everything to be perfect. I have found that learning to do embroidery is a good practise in patience.
