Changing Tyres

Changing tyres, spring 2008

Every spring and every fall it’s the same thing. Time to change tyres. Because it’s the law and because it’s the weather.

Today I officially began my spring and replaced the snow tyres with “summer” tyres (i.e. tyres with no studs). There has not been snow on the ground in a week and the weather has been very warm and sunny so I took a leap of faith. Finnish spring is always little bit unpredictable. The weather can change within hours. Only couple of weeks ago perfect early spring turned into new winter when it snowed for several days.

So, this afternoon I toiled for an hour and changed the tyres, checked the air pressure and dragged winter tyres into the basement. It was good strength exercise: my abs are aching and I feel really tired but succesful!

(P.S. ABS and tire - possible jokes aren’t intentional. )

Re-found Objects

from Re-found Objects

Here are some of my favorites from the Re-found Objects web shop. Bird decorations and a little bit of pink, that’s what I’m all about in decorating this spring, it seems.

Puzzle

Geeks have their geeky hobbies. I have always had a small obsession to jigsaw puzzles. They cause stress, anxiety and one kind of nervous breakdowns. And I love ‘em!

Moomin puzzle

One weekend, couple of weeks ago, we found from the local department store Moomin puzzles manufactured by Tactic (the English version of the site is poor and out of date). The pictures are original Tove Jansson’s drawings and are from the picture book Who Will Comfort Toffle? There are five different puzzles available. Katja isn’t as addicted to puzzles as I am but we decided to purchase one. The puzzle we chose is called Hemuleitten puisto. (I’m trying to find the English name for the puzzle/drawing later.)

So, we spent one weekend sitting on the living room floor, watching movies and putting the puzzle together. We got it ready and now it is framed waiting to be hung on the hallway wall. We thought the hallway would be the best place for the puzzle that is so colorful. There are at least seven different colors in the puzzle: black, white, yellow, orange, red, green and blue. In the hallway it’ll give some color into the space in a contrast to white walls.

Beautiful Spaces

peaceful livingroom

Here are two of my favorite images at the moment. These beautiful spaces are full of light and gorgeous furniture and I just love the art wall in the picture above.

Melancholy Girls

sad girls

I would love to have these three lovely prints hanging next to each other on the wall like a little portrait gallery. These ladies look like they’re straight out of some beautiful but melancholy dream, all of them full of thoughts and memories to share if you just take the time to listen. Prints from: Betsy Walton, My Folk Lover and Oh My Cavalier.
