It’s been such a beautiful afternoon and evening. After so many rainy days it’s nice to see the sun out. Earlier today we went out on a walk and I picked some flowers from the side of the road. They smell like summer.

The evening light made the white wall behind the dining table look blue in this picture!

Yellow and Grey Bedroom Moodboard

Like I wrote before, yellow and grey is one of my favorite color combinations right now. We’re not planning to re-decorate our bedroom anytime soon but if we did I think I would go with these colors. But because decorating in real life is out of the question right now I’m making these little moodboards on Photoshop and playing around with the colors and products that I like. I think I prefer the mustard yellow that I used in my previous moodboard to this bright yellow with grey but I like this color combination too. So here is my little moodboard for a fresh and fun summery bedroom with lots of yellow and grey. For the walls: framed Flight card by modernradar and HELLO May print by AshleyG. Pipe sidetable from MUJI Online for the bedside tables. Jonas Damon Twice Once clock from Design Public and Kivi votive in grey from Iittala on the bedside table and Lightyears pendant hanging above the table. Stilla duvet cover and pillow case from Marimekko on the bed and yellow Sveje rug from Ikea on the floor.

While looking through my magazines I found these beautiful images of a gorgeous home featured in Elle Interiör. I love that coffee table and the light fixture hanging over it! And what beautiful light through-out the house. (I’m sorry about the poor quality of the images, our scanner isn’t the best.)

Organizing Magazines

I am not an organized person. I try to be but I am not. I have drawers and boxes and baskets and files full of things (and I sure like to buy things that help me get a bit more organized) but mostly I have piles of things that should be organized and put in their right place but in the piles they stay. And we have too much stuff. We both have a lot of magazines, books, CDs and DVDs. So I decided that the first step to getting more organized is to get rid of some stuff that we really don’t need anymore. Inspired by Benita from Chez Larsson and her amazing organizing skills, especially her post on organizing magazines, I decided to sort out my magazines first. So last night (yes, this is exactly the kind of stuff I do on Saturday nights), armed with scissors and a glass of delicious pear cider I looked through all my decorating magazines and cut out to save only the pages that had something inspiring on them. Like Benita, I am going to put them into a folder for easy access and storage. It was fun to look through all my magazines, especially the different Finnish, Swedish, English and American interior design magazines from the last couple of years. It was interesting to see if the images I had liked the best two years ago were the same ones that caught my eye now (some were and some were not). I think I’ll scan some of my favorite images and share them with you next week.

Any Plans For The Weekend?

Today I bought this book called Mitä teet viikonloppuna? (= Any plans for the weekend?) by Finnish artist Jenni Rope. I just recently found her work but I’m already a fan. I’ve had my eye on this book for some time now but I’m happy I didn’t buy it earlier since it was on sale now for only 6€!

Even Lissu is interested in reading the book. The last page says: “If I can’t get sleep I take a hot shower with two pieces of chocolate in my mouth. How about you?”
