Nestled In

Today I went to see Mamma Mia! with my mom. It was actually the second time I saw the movie since we went to see it last weekend when Minna’s mom was visiting us but my mom wanted to see the film and I was more than happy to go and see it with her. I can’t help it - I adore musicals! (And Meryl Streep!) In addition to the great Abba songs and all the fun singing and dancing the movie has a lot to offer visually. The Greek islands are a beautiful setting for the story and the set decoration and wardrobe on the movie was so colorful and cheerful, I loved it!

I really liked the wardrobe, both Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried’s characters have lovely clothes through out the movie.

Reading Design*Sponge I learned that the beautiful fabrics you can see through out the movie are designed by Josef Frank. How lovely are these nature inspired fabrics? My favorite is the Celotocaulis print in green (bottom image)!

Lately I’ve felt like I can find much more decoration inspiration from images of people’s real homes on their blogs and on Flickr than I do in magazines and professional photoshoots. Skinny laMinx is the Etsy store of designer and illustrator Heather Moore from South Africa. Summer Day in dry grass dish towel (above) is my favorite from all the beautiful products in her Etsy store. The design is beautiful and the color is perfect! I also love the Specimens table napkin in both grey and yellow (below).

The summer is only half-way gone but I already have autumn on my mind. Maybe it’s the grey days and the constant rain against the window that makes me feel like autumn is just around the corner. My friend Jenni (whose lovely home you can see here) started a blog recently where you can see her beautiful photography, images of little details of everyday life and of her sewing projects. I love her style! Now Jenni has plans to make a bag out of beautiful Purnukka fabric by Marimekko. I swooned when I saw a picture of the Purnukka fabric on her blog - Purnukka has the perfect combination of autumn colors that I love. Here are some pictures of lazy days at home. I love our little home but I hate the neighborhood. We have decided to stay here until it’s possible for us to buy a place of our own (hopefully in the next few years) but I hate waiting (I’m always so impatient!) and, like I said before, I hate the neighborhood and the building we live in. So I try to make the apartment as nice as I can for now and I try to take nice pictures of it to remind myself that there’s nothing wrong with the apartment itself and that we are lucky to be living here together (Which I know we are).
