Thankful

Even though we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving over here I thought this was a good time to count our blessings. We have so much to be thankful for this year. Our little family is happy and healthy. After starting our blog about a year ago we’ve been lucky to find readers and get to know the kindest people. And now we are very fortunate to make one of our biggest dreams come a reality: we’re going to be homeowners! Starting next Friday we’ll be the owners of a lovely rowhouse apartment here in the city. It’s in a building built in the late fifties, it has a kitchen and a livingroom in the groundfloor, two bedrooms and a bathroom in the second floor and one room and a tiny bathroom and a tiny sauna in the basement. It has two teeny tiny yards, just enough for us to plant some flowers next summer. The apartment is going to need some work, some of which we’ll be doing immediatelly before moving in sometime during January, and some of which we’ll leave for later. So in the next couple of months our blog will most likely feature (in addition to all the usual stuff) lots of DIY stuff, picking stuff out for the new apartment, and decorating it.

Branches

… or, what we’ll have this year instead of a Christmas tree. Having a very curious and playful cat really makes having a Christmas tree more trouble than it’s worth. Last year we went without a tree but this year I really want something to decorate. So I decided to hang lovely Christmas decorations from branches. I like the simple and modern look of it, plus we can put the vase full of branches on the top shelf in the kitchen when we need to and it’ll be well out of reach of Lissu’s little paws!

A mouse mat (via sfgirlbybay)! I think Lissu would love it. I know I would!

I decided to continue for one more day with lovely images from Domino Magazine. In yesterday’s images the colors were pale and light, but today I felt like sharing something more colorful. Green is my favorite color and all three of these images have the most beautiful shades of green in them. I think that in our next home we’re going with green walls in the bedroom, these first two images are so lovely and inspiring!
