I don’t think we’ve shared our latest find with you yet. Here is a small second-hand dresser we bought just before Christmas. We have a few places in mind in our new home where it would look lovely, we’ll just have to see where it finds its place once we’re moved in. And talking about moving – it’s now less than a month until our moving date!

Here are a couple of my favorite bedroom images right now. I think I’ve shared the last one with you before but I couldn’t help posting it again for those of you who haven’t seen it. Just a little while ago I was drawn to all white interiors, but now I can’t get enough of color. Not bright color, but these soft shades like in these three images.

Remodelling

Brushes and rollers

As we are now renovating our own home, it feels appropriate to remodell our blog too. The plan is to get the New Look ready by the beginning of March.

So, we crave for a change. The last two renewals have been minor and mostly about changing the top banner pics. This time I want to design the blog layout from the scratch.  And although we have some ideas and plans of our own, we’d like to hear your thoughts too! This blog is not just for us, it’s for the readers too.

Is there something in the current layout that is difficult to use or understand? What kind of colors should we use in the future? What kind of boxes you’d like to have in the side panels? What kind of illustration you’d like to see? In the past we’ve used drawings,  abstract shapes and photos.

It doesn’t look too bad up there anymore. The bedroom walls have been painted, the office walls have their first coat of paint on. The bedroom and the bathroom have new floors and the tiling in the bathroom is almost done.

Wardrobe Doors

Pax wardrobe with high gloss doors

We are going to IKEA on Saturday. It’s our 3rd trip to IKEA within 6 weeks — hopefully we don’t have to go there anytime soon after this trip. We are going there with Katja’s grandparents because they have a bigger car and a rear cart so that we can take home larger pieces and packages. The plan is to buy worktops for study (2 x Vika Furuskog) and wardrobe for the bedroom (Pax/Komplement system).

Pax wardrobe with green sliding door

We have decided the size (200 x 236 cm) and the interiors (shelves, wire baskets and a clothes rail) of the wardrobe, but style of the doors is something we have to ponder. We are not sure whether we want the doors to be see-through or not. If the interiors can be seen through the doors, the clothes must be in order all the time. Because we don’t want the doors to have any grooves, the doors must be flat and/or partly see-through. Sliding doors are also option, although there’s enough room for hinge doors to open fully. Also the height of the closet (236 cm as a whole, 229 cm without footing) and our budget limit the options. The closet frames will be white.

I would take just plain white doors (Pax Ballstad), but Katja wants something more special. I don’t have anything against special if our budget allows it. Basically, we have 4 or 5 options to choose from.

Pax wardrobe, sliding doors

Green Pax Ã…rdal on the left would look very stylish (tempered green glass with aluminum frames), but maybe there would be too much green in our bedroom since the walls are painted yellow green. There’s also black/dark grey Ã…rdal, but it feels too dark. Lighter sliding door option is Pax Heimdal (on the right) with polycarbonate plastic panels and aluminum frames.

Pax wardrobe, hinge doors

Pax Lomen hinge door on the left is white and high gloss. Much cooler than plain Pax Ballstad. Pax Fevik in the middle has black-brown fiberboard frames and the panel is tempered glass. Pax Drammen on the right has aluminum frames and tempered glass panel.

All of these doors cost about the same in Sweden (we go to IKEA in Haparanda, near the border), so the design and the feel of quality will matter the most. Let’s see.
