Today I want to share with you pictures that I took of my friend Jenni’s gorgeous new home when I visited her this afternoon. (You can see a post about her old home here.)  Jenni has just recently moved into a two room apartment in a lovely old building that has so much character and charm. The high ceilings, original wood floors, big windows and beautiful old doors are not easy to come by in our city, not many of these old houses are around anymore. As you can see Jenni has done justice to the building she lives in and decorated her light-filled home beautifully. I adore her style and the way she lets her personality show in her home.

Office

office-1

Our home has two bedrooms and we use the smaller one as our office. It is a tiny room but thanks to a L-shaped desk we built from Ikea components and these new shelves we put on the wall last week it has plenty of space for both work and storage. We still need to make another trip to Ikea for more Kassett boxes, if you don’t like clutter then they really are your best friend as you can hide anything in them – magazines, art and sewing supplies, etc. And talking about hiding things – we still need to hide away most of the cords in this room, it really makes a big difference.

We found the office wallpaper in the discount bin at the local hardware store for only 5€ a roll and we absolutely fell in love with the cheerful pattern and color. It’s one of my favorite things in our new home, it really makes you smile every time you enter the room. We’ve tried to keep rest of the room more neutral to make the wallpaper the main focus of the room.

New Old Coffee Table

Like I mentioned in a previous post, when we were in Southern Ostrobothnia during the Easter weekend we didn’t only buy the bedside tables, we also found a lovely coffee table at the same thrift store. Never mind that we already have two nice coffee tables. Remember the one my grandfarher gave to us and we painted white? And the one we bought from a thrift store when we moved here? We love both of those tables but the white one looks too small for the space (so we use it as a sidetable next to the sofa) and the newer thrift store table looked just a little bit too big (it’s now in the basement waiting to find out what we’ll do with it). When I saw this beauty at the thrif store I knew it would be perfect – it’s the perfect size for the room and I love the look of it, and that little shelf underneath is great for magazines, remote controls etc.

Still no rug in the livingroom. I can’t make up my mind between Ikea Stockholm Rand and Jorun, although lately I’ve been leaning to Jorun, I love the dark grey. On the sofa are the pillowcases from Ellos that I featured in my last post. Once the weather is warm enough for outdoors decorating I think that these pillows will move outside to cheer up the terrace.

Ikea Summer

ikea-summer

Ikea always has really nice summer products and this year is no different. What is different this year is that for the first time we have two tiny yards of our own! I can’t wait for the weather get warm enough for us to start spending time outside, to plant flowers and have meals on the terrace. Our little rowhouse apartment has two tiny yards, one infront of the house and one in the back. There are also small terraces in the front and back of the house. We have plans to turn the front yard into a little barbeque area in the summer, so we’ll have to get a small table and a few chairs for it. We’ll probably just plant flowers in flower pots, no flowerbeds in the front yard. In the backyard we’ll have grass and flowerbeds. I made this moodboard the back terrace in mind. I want to make it a cozy and colorful area, perfect for spending time in the afternoon and warm summer evenings, reading a book, talking with friends, tending to the plants.

Everything here is from Ikea (mostly from their new summer line), except the FÃ¥gelbo pillowcase (we have two) in the middle is from Ellos and the lovely pear shaped vases are from noun.

White, black, grey and orange. It’s definitely my favorite color combination right now.
