On our trip to Ikea we also picked up this inexpensive Rationell Variera container at the kitchen product department. It’s perfect for storing CDs that we’ve been recently playing in the livingroom. We store our CDs in the basement (no place to store them in the livingroom) but we listen to them in the livingroom (although, like most people I think, we mostly listen to music on our computers) so there were always small piles of CDs laying around the room. It’s funny how a small pile of CDs can look messy but once you put that same pile into a small container it all looks so much more organized!
(You can also see there my favorite album this summer, Rearrange Beds by An Horse. There always seems to be that one CD that I absolutely love every summer and listen to constantly. It doesn’t have to be new music or released that summer, it doesn’t even have to be new to me, there’s just something about the music that makes it the perfect soundtrack and companion for those summer months. And Rearrange Beds is it for me this summer. What about you, do you have a summer soundtrack too?)

Last week we took advantage of the mid-summer sales and now we finally have a TV bench and a rug in the livingroom, both we’ve been waiting to buy since we moved here in February. We found the TV bench at Ikea (where else!), it’s the Linnarp TV bench/coffee table in black. We had been thinking about it earlier but we had also been thinking about either making a TV bench by ourselves or trying to find something at a thrift store. But at only 30€ on sale it was much cheaper than the materials for making one and since we hadn’t had any luck thrifting we decided to get it. It’s solid pine so we can always sand it and paint it again if we get tired of the color.

I’ve had my eye on the Jorun rug from Ikea for a while now but when we were at Ikea a week ago we realized that it was way too big for our small livingroom. (I guess I could have found that out at home if I had bothered to do some measuring!) It was so disappointing! But then I found this wool rug at Finnish store Isku a couple of days ago and I like it even more than the Jorun one, so it all worked out really well. And it was on sale for only 55€! So there are our summer sale finds. What about you, have you been shopping at the sales?

I’m taking a little summer break from blogging this week, I’ll see you again next week!

A little while ago Kimberley of When skies are grey held a giveaway on her blog to celebrate her new print Many Faces of Mook and I was one of the very lucky winners of the print! I was so happy to win because I’m a huge fan of Kimberley’s work and the Mook creatures she makes. This print brings together some of the wonderful Mook creatures in their fun little masks and outfits and personalities. I feel like there are as many stories in this print as there are creatures, I just love it! The colors of the print are also lovely and I really like the texture of the paper. Now I only have to find the perfect place for the print – I’ll take pictures as soon as I hang it on the wall!
If you weren’t one of the lucky winners you can still have a Mook print (or a real Mook!) of your own, just go to Kimberley’s Etsy store My Grey Sky. And thank you Kimberley once again, what a wonderful surprise!

This little guy with the lion mask is my favorite!

Here’s lovely inspiration from photographer Amanda Prior’s portfolio. I love the earth tones and the styling in these images. And how great is that sofa upholstered in different black and white Ikea fabrics?! I LOVE it.
It’s the Midsummer this weekend which means it’s a 3 day weekend over here in Finland so I’ll take a little blogging break too, I see you again next week. Have a lovely weekend and fun and safe Midsummer’s Eve celebrations!
