Wall Lamps

I just realized that I haven’t shown you the wall lamps we found for our bedroom earlier this summer. We already had them on the wall for a while but we took them down when we repainted the room last weekend. We originally affixed the lamps way too high on the wall, you couldn’t reach them well from the bed and they just looked weird. After looking at them for a couple of months I was happy that painting the room gave us a good excuse to take them off the wall and try again. I think that they have found their perfect place now.

Finding simple and affordable wall lamps that we really liked was much harder than I thought it would be. Even Ikea didn’t have anything we liked! Finally, after giving up the search we stumbled upon these Mark Slöjd Sweden lamps, we really like their simple design and I think that they fit into our home perfectly – and they were on sale for only 10€ ($14) each!

We are encountering some minor problems with Worpress (URLs). I had to take permalinks down until I’ll find the cause and can fix it. All posts and pages should be accessible though. Have a nice Monday!

Update 6 pm: Problem fixed, all permalinks should work OK now. Please comment if you run into weird behaviour.

A bit quiet around here lately, I’ll try to get back into blogging mode soon. Hopefully next week I’ll have more pictures of the freshly painted bedroom to share with you. Until then, I just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely comments and wish you a great weekend!

blue

Today we finally started repainting the bedroom, this is what it looks like after the first coat. Goodbye weird pastel green (how did we go so wrong with that color?), hello gorgeous greyish blue! We absolutely LOVE it!

It’s been a perfect weekend to end my summer holiday with (my new studies begin tomorrow, yay!). On Friday we went to see the lovely Finnish singer Anna Puu and the Air Guitar World Championships here in Oulu, what a fun night that was! (Click here for Minna’s photos of the contestants). Yesterday we made a quick trip to the library and a few thrift stores and today we’ve been painting and planning what to do next, the renovation never seems to end… Some days it feels like renovating and decorating our home with such a small budget is a bit too much for someone like me who would like to have everything done right away. But then there are days like these past few days have been when I’m able to appreciate the slow pace and not see only the incomplete and imperfect things but focus on everything we have already done and how at home we feel here.

Kitchen

kitchen-table

The kitchen table found a new place under the window, much nicer to sit around it and being able to see outside. We’ve been storing the cookbooks in the basement, today I moved them into the kitchen. For now they are on the counter but I am thinking about adding one shelf on the wallpapered wall for them. We could really use more storage space in the kitchen but at the same time I’m not sure if I want to hang anything over the lovely wallpaper.
