Nestled In

I finally finished Katja’s green mittens on last Thursday evening. During the weekend I began to knit a pair for myself. Here are a couple of photos of my project in its early stages. Because there was some left-over yarn from Katja’s mittens, I decided to put a green stripe on my yellow mittens.

I have knitted several mitten and wool sock pairs in my life but now I think I have found the perfect yarn and knitting needle combo for mittens. The Novita Isoveli (”bigger brother”) yarn is so soft but quite thick, so the result is warm mittens. Novita 7 Veljestä (”seven brothers”) yarn suits better for wool socks because it’s slightly thinner - thus the socks aren’t too warm. I like that my feet are warm, but I hate it if my toes are boiling. Novita’s yarns are great because they won’t shrink in a washing machine.

Lazy afternoons at home. I am learning to knit. Lissu likes to help. I’m kind of obsessed with cooking with paprika and zucchini. I could eat them at every meal! And lately it seems I have. Yesterday we ate them with salmon for dinner (yum!), today I ate them with pasta for lunch.

These lovely green mittens Minna is knitting are for me (I’m spoiled, I know!). I’m practising taking photos with our new lovely camera. (I’ve still got a long way to go!) I’m so sorry about the lack of posts in the past two days, life got the best of me for a while there. It’s been so grey and dreary outside this week that there’s no light to take nice pictures, so here are two images I took a while ago, I hope you like them! I found that tiny succulent plant (in the white pot) from a new interior decoration/flower shop we have in town, Pioni Living. They have the most beautiful plants and flowers so if you live in the Oulu area you should definitely check them out!

Earlier this week I decided that a little change was in order so I dragged this small dresser from the livingroom corner to the bedroom. The dresser got a little lost in the livingroom where there’s so much other stuff and I think it looks much nicer now in the bedroom where you actually notice it’s there. The room is quite small so this was the only place where I could fit it, I don’t know if it looks funny infront of the curtains or not, but I kind of like it this way anyway. What do you think - should I move it back to the livingroom or let it stay where it is?
