Nestled In

First of all, thank you so much everyone for your lovely comments on my last post! We’re so happy to start the project of fixing up and decorating our new home and it’s going to be twice as much fun because we’ll be able to share it with you! Even though we get the keyes to the new apartment on Friday we’ve already started picking out things for it. The above image is from the Swedish wallpaper company Eco and the black and white wallpaper on the wall there is our chosen wallpaper for our new kitchen! We’ve also been thinking about paint colors and have decided to go with light grey for many rooms, to give the relatively small living space a connected and spacious look. … or, what we’ll have this year instead of a Christmas tree. Having a very curious and playful cat really makes having a Christmas tree more trouble than it’s worth. Last year we went without a tree but this year I really want something to decorate. So I decided to hang lovely Christmas decorations from branches. I like the simple and modern look of it, plus we can put the vase full of branches on the top shelf in the kitchen when we need to and it’ll be well out of reach of Lissu’s little paws!

I decided to continue for one more day with lovely images from Domino Magazine. In yesterday’s images the colors were pale and light, but today I felt like sharing something more colorful. Green is my favorite color and all three of these images have the most beautiful shades of green in them. I think that in our next home we’re going with green walls in the bedroom, these first two images are so lovely and inspiring!

It has snowed more during the night and this morning so the ground is all white, the sky is a very light greyish shade of white and the light is soft and beautiful. These images from Domino Magazine remind me of the weather outside, the walls are soft, calm, pale colors. Recently I’ve been dreaming of having light grey walls, maybe in our next home?

They opened a new shopping center here in Oulu yesterday. The center is located next to the new Bauhaus store, about 6 km south from the city center. In addition to a relatively large car dealer, there are two home electronics stores, two kitchen-specialized stores, a paper and crafts store, art and frame shop, Marimekko store and Iittala Outlet.

Of course, we had to go and see the place with our own eyes last night, and also check out the opening sales they were offering. Because I’m a tech geek and nerd, I wanted to visit the Verkkokauppa.com store, but Katja was more into Iittala Outlet. I have to admit that I was pretty impressed with the quantity of different glass and china dishes! Most of the stuff aren’t first class quality but there are small defects, like tiny air bubbles in the glass. (Sorry about the picture quality, my camera phone isn’t the greatest.)

There were enormous color selection of the Iittala Kivi candle holders at Iittala Outlet.

I haven’t ever seen this many Moomin mugs at the same time!

More Moomin items (post cards) were found at Gallerix, a Swedish art and frame shop.

The Marimekko store was kind of a disappointment because it was just like all the other Marimekko stores here, except little larger and more spacious. Marimekko should open outlet store too!
