Armchair Before And After

Here is the second chair project we worked on over the weekend. This is an old chair that was left in my grandparents’ summer cabin by the previous owner of the cabin and it’s been sitting in their storage since. The chair is in a good condition, only the seat (and the padding under the fabric) was dirty and very dusty, not to mention kind of smelly. So we ripped off the old fabric and the padding underneath and made a new seat cover from the same Patricia fabric we used earlier on the other chair. We bought some inexpensive foam material to put underneath the fabric and then fixed the fabric on the chair with a stapler gun. It would have been a simple and fun little project but the material of the chair was very tough so getting the staples to fix on was a problem. We were so frustrated with the staples that we nearly gave up but I’m happy we didn’t because I think that the end result looks great!

Chair Before And After

Here is the first of two simple chair projects we did over the weekend. The chair in question used to be Minna’s office chair but since it was replaced by a white Snille chair from IKEA it’s been in the kitchen where it goes well with our black Olle chairs. The only thing we haven’t been so crazy about is the bright red color of the seat, it doesn’t really go with anything else in our home. This weekend we covered the red with nice black and white Patricia fabric from IKEA. We cut and hemmed the fabric and then used a stapler gun to fix the fabric to the seat. We think it looks so much nicer now!

Cabinets at Thrift Stores
We have been roaming through local thrift stores like maniacs lately. We are eager to find a coffee table and a TV bench for our living room. We actually found a coffee table that would have been perfect for us but it was sold! We got really excited about it - it was beautiful sturdy table from the 50s and it was made out of slighlty darkened solid wood - but a lady came to tell that it was already sold. She put a “Sold” label on the table and we were defeated.
In addition to Our Dream Coffee Table - no other table will appeal to us in awhile I fear - we have found many other beautiful and interesting pieces of furniture. Unfortunatelly our furniture budget is still kind of limited and we wouldn’t have room for extra shelfs and cabinets in our apartment. So we have been forced to leave all the nice colored and shaped cabinets behind. Here are couple of cabinets that have caught our eye. (Why almost all the thrift stores and recycling centers are so dim?!)

And my favourite cabinet so far. It’s a pity we cannot purchase it. It would be great linen cabinet.

A Little Monday Morning Wishlist

It’s been snowing here for a few days now and it looks nothing like April outside. I don’t think I saw the sun out the whole weekend - just grey days and snow. That’s why I made this little wishlist to brighten up this early Monday morning. The gorgeous Jenn Ski print sure brings out the sunshine with its wonderful colors. The print and the cute little Ceramic Bird Vases from re:modern are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. We’re thinking about getting a new TV table and while I don’t know yet what I’m looking for this OFFI Scoop TV Table looks like something I’d love to have in our livingroom. I love the soft blue color and the design of the Mibo Large Pendant Lamp from Design Public, I think it would bring a little cheerfulness into any room.
