I love the first weeks of autumn when new lovely colors start appearing in nature. This is how the Rowan looked like at the beginning of the summer, this (above and below) is how it looks like now. See more pictures here.

Receiving a postcard in the mail can brighten up even the most cloudy day. It’s nice to know that someone has thought of you and taken the time to write a personal note and send it the old fashioned way, not by email or text message. And framing postcards is a very easy and inexpensive way to bring art into your home. I chose some of my favorite postcards available at Etsy. I hope you like them too!

We’ve been looking for a nice coffee table ever since we moved in but hadn’t found the right one yet. So when my grandparents offered us an old table they had sitting in the storage we decided to take it. It wasn’t perfect - not exactly what we were looking for but it was free and it had potential. It’s a simple peasant style table built in 1939 and as you can see from the ‘before’ picture (above) the top had been painted green and the legs were varnished brown. The height of the table was almost regular dining table height so my grandfather cut the legs shorter for us. Minna and I considered painting or varnishing the top and the legs different colors but at the end we decided to paint the whole table white. We chose a high gloss paint because we thought it would give the table a bit more modern look. After some sandpapering and painting we finally have a coffee table. We’re really happy with how it turned out: (See more pictures here)

And look, both ends of the table have little drawers in them. They’re perfect for storing the remote controls.

Being a fan of artist Camilla Engman’s beautiful work I was delighted to find out about these transfers from Third Drawer Down. You can rub down these transfers to almost any surface (paper, wood, metal, ceramic…) and have a tiny piece of Camilla Engman’s art in your home. How cute is that?

We bought this beautiful Blonde Redhead gig poster from The Small Stakes months ago but had trouble finding a frame for it. Last night we decided to forget the frame alltogether and we hung it on the bedroom wall with a paper clip. The colors in the poster go really well with the color of the wall.

Here is what we brought home from our impulse trip to Ikea today. The succulent, a white Kapa plant pot (close up above) and a Jorun cushion cover (below).

These days our livingroom is very green+white, my favorite color combination. But I just realized now looking at this picture that this corner of the livingroom is mostly stuff from Ikea! The sofa, the small table, the rug, the plant pot, the plant, some of the picture frames on the wall and the lamp and the chairs in the background. All from Ikea! We love Ikea but we don’t want to decorate our whole home only with Ikea. We do have a lot of other stuff too, mainly trift store finds and furniture we have inherited from relatives, but looking at this picture you would think that we only own things from Ikea!

The vintage Arabia leaf bowl looks great next to the new pillow.

August is always such a weird month - at one hand you’re trying to savor every last bit of summer and enjoy the sun and the summer feeling but at the same time your thoughts wander into the upcoming autumn and all that it has to offer. But I’m trying not to rush things and to enjoy the last weeks of summer and that is why the inspiration for today’s little product round-up came from the cheerful summer colors that I love.
